What are the benefits of online case review?
It's free, and you can do it at your convenience from home, work, or school on your phone, tablet, or computer. It only takes about 5 minutes, which is much faster than going to court in person. You save money on parking and time coming downtown to court. Our prosecutors will review your case as carefully and fairly as they would in court, weighing in all the same factors.

How is it different online than in court?
There is no major difference. There is a prosecutor and law enforcement personnel on the other side, making decisions about your case based on the same criteria they would if you went to court. It just takes place through this website.

How much does it cost?
Free. Online Dispute Resolution is a service provided to you by the Shelby County Environmental Court and the Shelby County General Sessions Court Clerk's Office to help make court services and justice more accessible to our citizens.

It's a way to have a judge, prosecutor and court staff review your case without you having to come to court for a hearing.

What are the benefits of online case review?
Online review can be done from the convenience of your home or office and at times convenient for you. Online review can be a more efficient use of your time and result in a quicker resolution of your citation. Online case review also provides more efficient access to justice by removing barriers such as transportation.

How is it different online than in court?
It's not. There's real court staff and law enforcement officers on the other side, making decisions about your case based on the same criteria they would if you went to court in person. It just takes place through this website.

How does it work?
You submit a request online. If you are eligible, the prosecutor reviews your request and makes a recommendation to the court, who then makes the final decision. You get an email with the result.

Is there a charge for online case review?
No.

What happens if my request is rejected?
You have 10 days to admit responsibility and pay the ticket, deny responsibility and request a hearing, or admit responsibility with a written explanation. More information is on the back of your ticket.

How do I know if I'm eligible?
It depends on your record and other criteria set by the Court and law enforcement personnel. Just enter your ticket information and do a search to find the eligibility criteria. If you are, submit a request. Whether your request is approved is entirely up to the Court and law enforcement personnel.

What does it mean if I am ineligible?
It could mean your ticket is too old, or that you have too many past offenses or open tickets. Try a search. If you are ineligible, we'll tell you why or that your charge is a "mandatory appearance" charge.

How will I know when a decision has been made?
We will send an email or text as well as update the message on your status page when you come back to the website. The full payment due and other payment details will also be communicated to you.
